“Historic, cuban like moment in Ecuador”

Already to the road to this mystic place is … bumpy. And then when entering under the enormous trees and seeing the Hacienda at the far end of the alley, is a magic moment, like you only have a few in lifetime. We had a good lunch, on the high end of what you expect in ecuador, but the place itself, it’s history, the free visit of the garden make it an unforgettable moment on your journey from Quito to wherever you are heading down south…

Dripping with history plus utterly delightful staff”

This was a truly unique and beautiful place to lay our heads after an exhausting and exhilarating trip up the nearby Cotopaxi volcano… A stunning approach up a long sweeping drive and you are greeted by four warm staff, wreathed in smiles and immediately taking our bags and showing us up to our wonderful (set of!) rooms. They also knew our names already which was a lovely touch – they’d taken the time to work out who was arriving. Our two rooms were incredible – we had the main suite with beautiful views on to the front and back of the hotel, with its blissfully laid out and well-kept gardens – complete with hummingbirds buzzing around which you could watch from the inside while sitting in front of the wood-burning stove and sipping a fennel tea. There are wonderful paintings and sculptures everywhere and the hacienda offers an immaculate restaurant with a delicious lunch, dinner and breakfast menu. My sister was unfortunately very ill the next morning with gastric issues and the wonderful staff didn’t hesitate to organise a trip to the doctor and also loaded us up with oregano tea for our onward journey. Even poorliness didn’t take the shine off our experience. Unforgettable!

During a two week trip to Ecuador, we spent two separate nights at this great hotel. It positioned us well for treks up Cotapaxi and down Quilatoa. Both were amazing experiences. At the hacienda, we were treated to excellent service, great food, and on one of the evenings traditional live Andean music.

We were here for lunch with our family and some friends. The Hacienda is really well maintained though some details need to be fixed. The food was good and the service excellent. The driveway is stunning and it seems to take you to another time.

Tudo lindo.

This old hacienda is a step back in time and well worth the detour (and expense) for the budget conscious traveller. We spent a single night there and the room, building and grounds were well kept and like being in a museum.

The meals were quite good but simple.

An amazing property with incredible history that seems to ramble on forever. The central garden is beautiful and artisans can be found working in the back courtyard. Our dinner was delicious and the service made us feel like we were in a 4 store hotel. The room was large and very comfortable.

Had the pleasure of visiting Hacienda La Cienega for lunch. Firstly, the drive way as you enter is absolutely stunning with huge Eucalyptus Trees which leads to the main house. We were seated at a nice table and were greeted warmly by the staff. The waitress that took care of us was very nice and caring and it was impressive that she had been there for 25 years. The food was amazing, I had the Avocado with Shrimp as a starter and it was delicious. For the main course I had Corvina with Seafood which was prepared in an aluminum foil packet. All of the flavors from the food were great.  Having great food in a beautiful setting along with excellent customer service makes for a great time. The only regret is that we could not stay longer.   travel to Ecuador frequently so I hope to be back.

This beautiful hacienda is located perfect between Cotopaxi and Quilotoa, so if you are for a tour to visit Cotopaxi National park and the next day you want to see the Quilotoa laguna in the crater this spot is a perfect choice. A little bit pricy but you have a charm hotel with a lot of history behind, very helpful people and nice surroundings. The wi-fi is not super and can be used only around the reception, so that would be my only concern

Ampio lavabo e specchiera, phon a disposizione.

We could again expierence a big authentique room. We got as well a room with connecting doors. This gives added value to us as a family. A nice fireplace was warming up our room. I would have like it a little warmer to take a shower but I guess that is part of staying in haciënda’s. The garden was beautiful.

La Cienega was a beautiful hacienda more than 300 years old. The hotel was very close to Cotopaxi Volcano and to the rose plantations. The hotel interiors were kept in original decoration. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The firespace in the room was working and it was effectively the main heater in the room. The food during dinner and lunch was traditional and delicious. Free wifi was working properly.

When we approached the entrance of this hotel, it was as if this was a set from a romantic old movie. The long driveway was lined with eucalyptus trees. The hotel building was a grand old mansion from 1742. You could even visit their own chapel anytime of the day, the chapel itself was large and elaborate with pulpit and loft. We had a good size room and huge windows on two sides, but I must say the bathroom was a little small. Food in the restaurant was only average and expensive, but I guess we had to pay for the atmosphere and ambience of this very enchanted mansion too. They also put a small hot pad in your bed to keep you warm at night. I love it.

A welcome change from your big business hotel in Quito. This place had a great deal of character and feels like it has many stories to tell. The rooms were large and spacious, the restaurant staff very kind and friendly despite either of us not being fluent. Things like wifi and hot water a little temperamental but to be expected in a building of this age. Recommended.
